 The
Jacksonville Wing Ding Festival is fast approaching and
this year promises to bigger and better than any other!
The Wing Ding Festival is a wonderful family environment
with food, entertainment, vendors and much, much more!
From paddle boat rides to the chicken wing eating
contest to the annual chicken wing cook-off there is
something for everyone.
Never been to the Wing Ding Festival and you would like
to know what to expect? Imagine the wonderful smell of
the fall air mixed with the sweet aroma of grilled
chicken wings. Now mix in the scent of cotton candy and
lots of fun! That is exactly what you will find at the
Wing Ding Festival. In Cash’s Corner there are games,
inflatables, live animals and surprises for kids of all
ages! For the adults there are vendors with items
ranging from home made crafts to candles, purses and
even the occasional baseball card.
And you won’t want to miss the entertainment. Sharon’s
School of Dance and Huff N’ Puff Dance and Gymnastics
will turn up the music and show you the latest moves.
You will also want to see the new winners of the
Jacksonville Cityfest Pageant and the Miss Jacksonville
Pageant as they strut their stuff across the stage! The
2nd annual chicken wing eating contest sponsored by
Chili’s is also a not to miss event. Last year’s
contestants consumed over 100 lbs of chicken wings in
less than 30 minutes combined between three rounds!
And don’t forget the food! During the chicken wing
cook-off you will see teams competing for the grand
prize People’s Choice Award! Also served in the past at
the Wing Ding Festival are turkey legs, bar b que
nachos, corn dogs and of course, funnel cakes!
The Wing Ding Festival committee is excited to announce
the headliner for entertainment for the 2010 Wing Ding
Festival. Performing on the Jacksonville Advertising &
Promotions stage will be the husband and wife duo Joey &
Rory direct from Nashville, TN. With a made-for-TV kind
of twist, husband and wife duo Joey+Rory only started
performing as a duo for the audition of CMT's hit
series, Can You Duet, in early 2008-but you'd never know
it. Bringing beautiful harmonies, top-notch songwriting
plus their natural joyfulness, authenticity and romance
to traditional country music, Joey+Rory quickly became
fan favorites on the show. As finalists, their rendition
of "Cheater Cheater" earned them a huge response and
went on to become an internet phenomenon. Now signed to
Vanguard/Sugar Hill Records alongside a venerable roster
of alternative country, bluegrass and Americana greats,
Joey+Rory's musical journey together is just beginning.
